We are looking for an Editorial Project Lead to join our busy medical writing team.

About The Role

We are looking for an Editorial Project Lead to join our busy medical writing team, leading the development and review of assigned activities and supporting our medical writers with training, development and mentorship.

Key responsibilities
  • Effectively lead the delivery of assigned activities, including the development process, review, approval and adherence to timelines.
  • Ensure that all materials are of high quality, scientifically accurate, appropriate to the target audience, meet the educational objectives and conforms to industry guidelines.
  • Provide clear briefs and guidance to the medical writing team
  • Serve as the lead scientific contact for your clinical experts
  • Appropriately report any clinical expert comments or feedback to the wider team
  • Coach/mentor/develop the in-house medical writers
  • Maintain knowledge in relevant therapy areas, industry guidelines and best practices.
  • Represent the company at key events and meetings
  • Communicate effectively with all departments and senior management
  • Provide inspiration, share best practice and actively encourage team members to be more creative and innovative in their approach.

Key attributes / skills / competencies

  • Life science degree essential, higher degree (PhD) preferred.
  • Appropriate industry experience, ideally in an agency environment.
  • Scientific knowledge in our seven key therapy areas: oncology, neurology, endocrinology, ophthalmology, respiratory, cardiology, immunology and infectious diseases.
  • Experience of a broad range of medical education activities across the full range of media, ideally including video.
  • Ability to understand new therapy areas quickly and to work independently across multiple activities.
  • Excellent scientific writing style.
  • On-site and supporter-facing experience essential.
  • Fantastic attention to detail.
  • Good team player.
  • Proven organisational and planning abilities.
  • Experience in briefing and managing the workload of freelancer medical writers.
  • Proactivity and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Presentation skills.
  • Previous line management and/or mentoring experience preferred.
  • Good sense of humour.
